Florida Homeschool Family Fun!

Moni’s Homeplace

As a child I had two dreams. I wanted to be an actress, singer, on stage. any of the performing arts would do. I put on shows for my family and drempt of  belonging to the Osmond family. I participated in a few shows through the school years and enjoyed ballet classes and church plays and chorus. I was even offered a scholarship while in elementary school for the New York School of Performing Arts. That dream still lies dormant in my heart but the other dream I had actually came true. A big happy family! I always wanted to be a mom, married to a guy that loved me no matter what.  I wanted six kids (like the Brady Bunch), and a dog.  I never desired to go to college and felt that I was foolish because I didn’t desire to be a lawyer, doctor or engineer. I just want to be a homemaker and enjoy the arts. My mom never taught me to cook, or clean. I dusted the furniture on Saturdays that’s it. I was being raised by a stay at home mom that wanted to make sure I never would be one. To be a career woman that wouldn’t need a man yet give her grandkids too. Maybe that was the mindset of stay at hom moms back in the 60’s and 70’s, with women’s lib and all.

Nevertheless the Lord has blessed me to be able to stay home and raise our kids and enjoy homekeeping. It takes a lot of sacrifice but it is an awesome season in my life. I still am a drama queen and on occasion I will put on a little show while the kids eat lunch ( my favorite being “be our quest” from Beauty and the Beast). One day I get around to dance classes or community theatre but I am happy to be “just a mom”. I hope you find encouragement from this blog that even if you weren’t raised to be a “susy homemaker” or “betty crocker”. You can learn and fun doing it. Happy homemaking!
